TDC1000: TDC1000-GASEVM Single Transducer TOF Reading

Part Number: TDC1000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TDC7200

Hello,

I was wondering if it would be possible to use the TDC1000-GASEVM for single transducer TOF fluid level readings while stilling using the TDC1000 GUI application. I already have the TDC1000-C2000EVM but I am mainly interested in using this board for its TX amplification circuitry. If this is at all possible please let me know.

  • Hello Sahaj,

The TDC1000-GASEVM is obsolete, but, yes you can use this with a single transducer.  You should just need to connect a transducer to J1 of the BSTEVM board, which will transmit on TX1 and receive on RX2.  When using the GUI, be sure that it is configured for this TX and RX channel.  Mode 0 is likely what you will want to use for TX1/RX2.

Also, please note that the TDC1000-GASEVM has the passive filter tuned for transducer frequencies of 58kHz to 300kHz.

  • Thank you for the info, is there a maximum distance that the TDC1000 can calculate, even if I use ~25V to amplify the signal. I currently modified my own board and produced TX pulses with 20V amplitude but I can only measure up to ~14 inches with the timeout disabled

  • Hello Sahaj,

The TDC7200 measures the time of flight on the TDC1000-GASEVM, which has 2 modes with different ranges as shown below.

What is the frequency of the transducer you are using and what is the medium(air, water, etc)?
