IWR6843: Effect of setting asymmetric FOV of IWR6843

Hi,

I am using IWR6843 radar module. I want to set the FOV of radar which is not symmetric. Not like -17 to 17 degrees or -60 to 60 degrees. I want to set it to -17 to 50 degrees or -60 to 90 degrees.

Using such asymmetric combination of angles will there be any issue in the performance of the radar?

Hello Manoj,

There should not be any issues, and if there were to be any it would be at the CFAR level.

Thanks for your reply. So, if I want to adjust anything then it would be CFAR level is that you mean to say? Is there any calculation to set CFAR level wrt change in fov angle?

Hello Manoj,

It is one of the things you can change that has a large impact on point cloud density. We currently do not have a tool that measures max range at different FOV angles.
