AWR2544LOPEVM: setup for the satellite radar system

Hi Bhaskar,

you can use DCA1000EVM with AWR2544 to capture raw ADC data like with AWR2944, but this is for capturing raw ADC from 1 device. For satellite use case you have to use AWR2544 (sending 1DFFT) with a central processor doing further processing using data from multiple AWR2544's.

There is no question of DDMA processing on AWR2544 since only 1DFFT is being calculated. Saying that, you can do the configuration of chirps and the Phase shift in AWR255 such that you can do the DDMA on the central processor.

We have few more questions as below:

1. When using multiple radars, synchronizing the data streams across all the radars becomes crucial for accurate processing. How did TI achieved this synchronization using the AWR and J7 devices? And can we also get the support to SYNC the 4 radars?

2. Regarding their DDMA, does TI have any document that provides the information on the phases supported at each Tx?

1. The sync can be done using Ethernet (CPTS) with PTP stack. The CPTS timer in the devices get synchronized using regular PTP messages, then this CPTS timer can trigger the Radar frame.

2. For TX Phase shift you can check the DFP Interface control document. This is available in the SDK https://www.ti.com/tool/MMWAVE-MCUPLUS-SDK

Thanks Ajay, is J784S4XEVM the best central processor board for the satellite radar system? Does J784S4XEVM comes with all the 4 processors TDA4AP-Q1, TDA4VP-Q1, TDA4AH-Q1 and TDA4VH-Q1 or we have to select which processor we need while procuring it? And does J784S4XEVM comes with reference codes to read the 1D RFFT data from multiple AWR2544LOP evaluation module with the DCA1000EVM ?

Thanks Ajay. Hope we get the SDK which will enable AWR2544 to directly stream 1DFFT data to central processor, can you share us the link? Also wanted to know in the central processor could we also log the streamed AWR2544's 1D FFT data?
