IWR6243: Generation of FMCW-Ramp from 57 to 64 GHz

Part Number: IWR6243

Hello,

we are currently developing a new Radar Module with the Radar Chip IWR6243. The datasheet specifies that this chip offers a RF bandwidth of 7 GHz (57 GHz to 64 GHz).

The entire band is split up into two seperate bands, each driven by a VCO. VCO1 operates from 57 GHz to 60.75 GHz while VCO2 covers 60 GHz to 64 GHz. Consequently, when using just one VCO, the achievable bandwdth of a FMCW-Ramp is limited to 3.75 GHz (VCO1) or 4 GHz (VCO2).

How is it possible, to generate a continuous FMCW-Ramp from 57 GHz to 64 GHz? We could not find any detailed information in our documents about this.

Thank you for your support

Tobias
