Part Number: AWR6843ISK

Tool/software:

Dear sir/madam.

we have recently purchased AWR6843ISK evaluation kit and currently using inside our vehicle to evaluate the performance of occupant detection application.

we would like to know details on proper mounting of evaluation kit on the vehicle. Please share the mounting arrangement and accessories usage which will help us to do proper mounting inside the vehicle.

please confirm on the following questions:

1)can we design /use any case to cover the PCB ? please confirm does case cover degrade the detection performance  or not.

2)if its acceptable to use case to cover, kindly share the details of material to be used.

3)if any TI AWR6843ISK evaluation setup has been verified  with case cover, kindly share the details of the same which  will be useful for us.

  • hi zigang,

       thanks for your reply.

i have few more additional questions and sharing for your comments.

1.does the radome protection is only for antenna or entire mmWave Radar sensor?
if its for entire mmwave radar sensor, then how will heat from PCB get dissipated ,does radome takes care impact on heat dissipation from the PCB or not?.

    2. we are using AWR6843ISK evalution kit for occupant detection application inside the vehicle with front sensor mounting, kindly suggest which radome material(fiberglass, PTFE-coated fabric, polycarbonate etc) can be chosen for this application?

3.we are looking for enclosure to mmwave sensor to fix the evaluation kit properly inside the vehicle. If TI have any such encloser for AWR6843ISK then please share the details.

4.i have seen in your test setup(refer image below) of child presence detection application, where evaluation kit are mounted with support, does the support is mobile holder or PCB holder?, please share the details of it, which will help us to use in our setup as well.

5.If TI sells any encloser for AWR6843ISK evaluation kit, please share the details of it.

    regards,

    mani

  • Hi Mani,

Currently TI doesn't have any radome designs or enclosures for the sensor boards. You can follow the radome design guide shared by Zigang to understand the design aspects of radome.

The mounting setup used by TI was just a simple mobile holder setup which you can easily find online.
