AWR6843: Pointcloud SNR value too high

Hi,TI engineers,

I'm using sample code : AWR6843_CPD_with_Classification and i have some question about calculation of SNR

as following figure,

and i saw that the snr/ noise 's scale was described 0.1 dB.

I converted the raw bytes into int16 and multiplied the value with 0.1,but i still got the too large value(some point more than 300), i think it is not reasonable.

I noticed that the noise term in the SNR calculation formula had been multiplied by 8. Does this 8 have any specific meaning?

Hi Juncheng,

We multiply by 8 to get the SNR closer to an integer since we cast it to an integer, this way we can still maintain some of the information.

Another question is that the SNR value is more than 300, and this value is printed by DSS when generating the point cloud
Is there something wrong I missed? i think this value is too large

Hi Juncheng,

Since we multiply by 8, the true SNR is really 300 / 8 in this case.
