AWR6843ISK: RS232 Operation connection error: Connection failed

Part Number: AWR6843ISK

Tool/software:

Hi,

I'm using the AWR6843ISKEVM along with the ICBOOST carrier board connected to the DCA1000. I'm using mmwavestudio 2.0.0.1 and got it fully functional and was able to collect data. When I disconnected it and tried to reconnect to the board again however, I keep getting an error when trying to connect to the COM port via the RS232 Operation. The erorr is: [RadarAPI]: Error: Connection failed: Calling_ConnectTarget returned 3, as seen in the picture below. I know all my connections are correct as it was working before and all my ports are showing up in Device Manager. I have gotten this error a few times and have no idea why it keeps happening when using the device. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Hello,

Could you try performing the power cycle on all the boards and reconnecting all the USB cables again? Let us know if the issue persists.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

I tried the power cycle for both boards as well as restarting my laptop. I looked at some other threads with the same issue but could not find a solution that works. I also tried a different radar board and DCA1000 and the issue persists.

It seems that when I don't use it for awhile (more than a week but it fluctuates) it works again but only for a few power ups then fails again. I was hoping there would be a way to permanently fix this issue instead of simply waiting until it works again as I need the board for data collection purposes. I am sure that my connections are all correct as it worked before and i was able to collect the ADC data and do some processing on it. Is there any other recommendations as to what I can do?

  • Hello,

Could you please try using the different USB cables (preferably new) for connections and confirm the issue?

This will help us in understanding whether the issue is with the USB cables or not.

    Thanks.
