IWR6843ISK: Question on the current of 3.3V power

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843,

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer replaced R200 with wire to detect the current of 3.3V power supply for IWR6843 on IWR6843ISK revD. But they found the current is about 867mA which is much bigger than the max current value of 3.3V in IWR6843 datasheet, which is 50mA.

Customer tried two ISKs and got similar result.

Would you pls kindly help to check what it missed?

Thanks,

Chris

  • Hello.

We are looking into this and will have an update by the end of day Monday.

    Sincerely,

    Santosh

  • Hi Chris,

The device current consumption for 3v3 rail is unlikely to be in this range (867mA).

Could you please make sure the wires and the soldering are proper? We recommend using thin wires for that would help in a proper soldering at the respective points on the PCB. Thicker wires have higher chances to short to other points on the PCB which further could be a reason for this high current on this rail.

Also, we recommend putting back the resistor and check for the power consumption if that matches with the present measurements.

    Thanks,

    Swarnendu
