AWR6843ISK: 6843ISK beyond max range clutter

I set a 6843ISK for a max range of 3 meters and I have it pointed to a human at 2 meters but any objects behind the human will be greater than 3 meters away. This 6843 is held by me (meaning it is not completely stationary), will any fixed object (clutter) greater than 3 meters be ignored even though there is relative movement (assume there is no ground clutter)? So, only the human at 2 meters will be detected?

Hi Larry,

The detection range and accuracy will greatly depend on your configuration of the device - Please put your .cfg file into the advanced tab in our sensing estimator: https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWaveSensingEstimator/ver/2.4.0/

Also, the radar will be sensitive to motion from your hand - I'd recommend placing the device on a stand or mount to minimize these movements.

I need a precise answer. I would assume that just the range being greater than 3 meters could be rejected regardless of movement. This is very important to know for me. Please find out the answer if you are not sure. Thanks! /Larry

Hi Larry,

I suggest you look at the CLI command cfarFovCfg - a detailed explanation is located in our SDK docs as well as our user guide at mmwave_sdk_03_06_00_00-LTS/docs/mmwave_sdk_user_guide.pdf.

This configuration command can be set to ignore points outside of a specified range window - is this the kind of functionality you are looking for?
