AWR1843: Eager Beginner - How to start with AWR1843 AoPCB

Part Number: AWR1843

Tool/software:

Dear TI Community,

I'm completely new to the world of FMCW mmWave radar technology, but I'm diving headfirst into a project at my company that involves some exciting challenges: long-range object detection, classification, and real-time volume estimation.

Here's a breakdown of my goals:

  • Long-Range Tracking and Object Classification:

    • I'm eager to learn how to achieve reliable object detection at long distances with the AWR1843 AoPCB. I'm particularly interested in exploring methods for classifying the detected objects, but I'm aware this might require some programming knowledge I haven't acquired yet.
  • Volume Estimation of a Heap:

    • My project requires real-time estimation of the volume of a material pile. I'm curious about how well the AWR1843 AoPCB capabilities can be applied to this task, and I'm ready to learn the necessary skills to make it work.

Current Knowledge and Constraints:

  • I've successfully run the out-of-box demo for the AWR1843 AoPCB and used an industrial visualizer for data exploration. This has given me a taste of the technology's potential.
  • Unfortunately, I don't have access to a DCA1000 EVM at this time.

Eager to Learn and Looking for Guidance:

  • Development Environment: Since I don't have the DCA1000 EVM, what alternative tools or environments would you recommend for development with the AWR1843 AoPCB?
  • Learning Resources: Are there reference projects or code examples available that showcase long-range tracking, object classification, or point cloud-based volume estimation with the AWR1843 AoPCB?
  • Getting Started: I'm eager to learn how to intract with the API's , capture data, generate point clouds, and visualize them in 3D using the AWR1843 AoPCB. Can you suggest some resources or steps to get me on the right track, even with my limited programming experience?

I'm brimming with enthusiasm and ready to learn everything I can. Any advice or guidance the community can offer would be greatly appreciated!
