LM96163: Alarm Status Fault Trigger

Part Number: LM96163

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

Customer used LM96163 but sometimes they would see Alarm Status became 0x7F in about every 100,000 reads however, the measurement of local temp is good not over defined spec, and also we think I2C communication is fine cause other dumped registers looks ok.

Would you please advise what might be possible reasons might cause the problem?

Regards,

Allan

  • Hi Allan,

0x7F isn't a possible output from the 0x02 ALERT Status register because bit D5 is defined as 0. There must be a communication error. Is customer able to capture the 0x7F I2C transaction on logic analyzer or oscilloscope? There is likely another system problem.

    thanks,

    ren
