HDC2010: Quick Questions

Part Number: HDC2010

Tool/software:

Hey team,

Can you please assist with the following questions?

  1. The spec calls out a minimum I2C frequency of 10 kHz. Is this real or just boilerplate? In one usage of this sensor we run it with a software bit-bang I2C that operates around 1 kHz. (In other systems we operate at 100 kHz - 400 kHz) We haven't had any issues with that, but I would be interested in hearing from TI on this. As far as I know, there is not a minimum frequency called out by the official I2C spec.
  2. Does the HDC2010 ever clock stretch?
  3. After a Soft Reset or power-on event, do we need to wait a certain amount of time before attempting to communicate with the device?

Thanks,

Cameron

  • 1. Usually the sensors have the SMBus Timeout, which necessitates a minimum frequency. The HDC2010 doesn't have this time out, so it's not clear to me where the minimum comes from.

    2. No, there is no clock stretching. The SCL pin is specified as input only.

    3. No, there isn't a specified delay for start up.

    thanks,
