LDC0851: Application problems

hi team,

my customer wants to use LDC0851 to realize the distance measurement up to 22mm.

But when they test EVM, it can only detect 3mm distance. Can LDC0851 realize this function and do u have any advise? thanks!

    Hello Zoey,

    For our LDC devices, for the traditional spiral  inductor, maximum sensing distance corresponds to inductor diameter.  The expected switching distance for the LDC0851 is 40% of the diameter.  Board files indicate the LDC0851EVM has a coil diameter of about 20mm.  So 8mm is the distance I would expect for the coil on that board to reach.  Did you adjust the potentiometer?  The lowest voltage value should correspond to the furthest sensing distance.  Also what is the size of your target?
