Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843
Tool/software:
Can IWRL6432 use Tx-Beam Forming and Rx-Beam Forming?
Also, do you have any white papers or application notes about them?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The IWRL6432 cannot use TX beamforming, but it uses RX beamforming by default to estimate the angle of arrival of targets.
Best,
Nate
Thank you for your reply.
We are also considering the IWR6843, which can use Tx beamforming.
Do you have any white papers or application notes about Tx beamforming?
Excuse me.
I have more question.
I think IWRL6432 cannot do Tx beamforming because it only has two Tx antennas.
Why can't it do beamforming with two Tx antennas?
Hello,
Nathan is currently out of office and will respond when he returns next week.
Best Regards,
Josh
Hi,
With only two antennas, you can't effectively direct the beam in a direction. TX beamforming happens by adding delays on different transmitters to push the beam in different directions. With only two transmitters, you cannot direct it effectively. Additionally, the IWRL6432 doesn't not have TX phase shifting hardware on-chip, so it's not possible.
Best,
Nate
