TDC7200: Can the TDC7200 or an Equivalent Time-to-Digital Converter Measure Pulses as Narrow as 1 ns with a 100 ps Resolution?

Part Number: TDC7200

Tool/software:

Can the TDC7200, or a similar time-to-digital converter, be used to measure pulses as narrow as 1 ns while providing a resolution of 100 ps between the falling edge and rising edge of a new pulse?

  • Hello Esam,

Thank you for posting to the sensors forum! Unfortunately the TDC7200 would not be able to handle this measurement the recommended length for a pulse for this device is 10ns.

There is also a timing requirement between START and STOP signals, although there is a way around it the minimum pulse time would still need to meet the required 10ns length.

There may be other timing devices you could use, my recommendation would be to make another post for the clocks and timing forum to see if they have any recommended devices.

    Best,

    Isaac
