AWR2944: Error connecting to the target: (Error -2131 @ 0x0)

I'm working with R5F and C66x based SoC AWR2944

And occasionally I run into this issue

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -2131 @ 0x0)
Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).
(Emulation package 12.7.0.00130)

The resolution tends to be close code composer and relaunch debug session. This seems excessive. If this is a code composer reinitialization, is there anything else that can be done?
I'd like to avoid reopening code composer every time, and relaunching debug session

Hi Tom,

Please find my questions below -

Which CCS version are you using?
How frequently are you running into this issue?
Are you resetting the device while the cores are connected?
Or, Are you running some example that gives a reset to the device?

3. I'm power cycling the device while the cores are attached, is that an issue?

4. We have a single reset on startup, for the SBL to jump to the App. Is there a better way to do this like referencing the app entry function with a function pointer and calling function pointer?

Is it randomly happening? Or while you are power cycling the device then it is happening?

That means the cores are connected to CCS, am I right?

Yes that's correct, and a good highlight on your end.
I'm starting to see this issue occur less if I de-attach the cores in CCS debug session, before power cycling.

I'll try to keep monitor if it happens with these steps.

Tom, I'd suggest do power cycle the device when the cores are disconnected.

If the cores are connected, you shouldn't do power cycle or give nReset to the device.
