IWR1443BOOST: application and development environment

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Tool/software:

My name is Tsukada, and I am in charge of development at SAI Co., Ltd.

I would like to ask for the following questions regarding the kit available from TI, which is currently under consideration for the development of a certain project.

・An evaluation board for the booster pack for the IWR1443 single chip, 77GHz, millimeter wave sensor

Purpose of use
・Detection of wall lifting and other issues in architectural infrastructure.

Usage environment
・Mounted on outdoor drones, portable carts, etc.

Final output
・2D image (a form that can reflect differences in internal structure)
・Point cloud

Question
・I would like you to suggest the development environment required to use this evaluation kit for evaluation testing for the above purpose.

(PC specs, peripheral software (image processing, etc.)

・If possible, please introduce me to a representative from an agency or branch office who will be the support desk in Japan.

・I think this can be confirmed in the manual, etc.

I would like to know roughly the following performance items

・3D resolution
・Wall penetration performance (lifting of walls, lifting of tiles, etc.)

・Detection sensitivity (distance from antenna, spread)

  • Hello.

Please refer to the radar toolbox for all your questions.  I have provided brief answers below, but more detail can be found on the toolbox.  Please feel free to create new posts if you have any other questions after looking at the toolbox.

・An evaluation board for the booster pack for the IWR1443 single chip, 77GHz, millimeter wave sensor

You can refer to the IWR1443BOOST EVM page for details on the evaluation kit and how to order the part if you want to try out some of the demos.

・I would like you to suggest the development environment required to use this evaluation kit for evaluation testing for the above purpose.

(PC specs, peripheral software (image processing, etc.)

You can use CCS to write and edit code, and also import projects from the radar toolbox into CCS to understand what is done in these demos and make any modifications you want.

    ・3D resolution
・Wall penetration performance (lifting of walls, lifting of tiles, etc.)

It will not penetrate walls, and you will be able to detect a boundary like a wall in the room using the radar as it is reflective enough to generate points.  With respect to 3D resolution, are you asking about the angular resolution on the device?  Or just about the range/velocity resolution?

    Sincerely,

    Santosh
