Hello,

We have a question about the TMAG5273C1/C2.

According to the I2C specification, 78h is reserved for 10-bit addressing. However not sure if 78h is supposed to be used for 7-bit addressing according to the I2C specification.

Our I2C slave is NAKing this 7-bit address, which seems to make sense since it's reserved for 10-bit addressing. Do you know of any errata I could take a look at for this part?

Thank you for posting to the Sensor's forum!

For the Cx variant, 0x78h is what is supposed to be used for the 7-bit address as the TMAG5273 does not have 10-bit addressing.

Are you able to share a waveform capture of a digital logic analyzer showing the NAKing behavior?

Hello, Sorry think question was confusing. I assume we shouldn't be using the 10-bit addressing packet protocol to address the TMAG5273Cx (78h) and instead should use the 7-bit packet protocol for this, is that correct?

Hi Keith,

That is correct, 10-bit addressing should not be used to address this device. To communicate to the device, the total frame for the address should be the 7-bit address + r/w bit (a total of 8-bits, with the device address making up the 7 MSB). This should look similar to the image below, but using the Ax which has a 7-bit I2C address of 0x35:
