AWR2544LOPEVM: The AUTO PHY(DP83TG720) on the EVB cannot link up.

Part Number: AWR2544LOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2544

Tool/software:

I have a problem. The software is stuck "Waiting for network up". As shown in Figure 1 below:

The hardware I use: AWR2544LOPEVM. SDK: mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02.

Software example: enet_cpsw_udpclient (C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\mcu_plus_sdk_awr2544_09_01_00_05\examples\networking\lwip\enet_ cpsw_udpclient).

1.I modified AWR2544LOPEVB following User's Guide AWR2544LOP Evaluation Module.As shown in Figure 2 below:

2.I modified syscfg file,as shown in Figure 3 below:

However, I used loopback mode to test that the AUTO PHY worked.as shown in Figure 4 and  Figure 5 below:

  • Hi Xiang,

Can you clarify few things -

    1. Are you using the standard examples or made any modifications to that?

    2. Can you share your hardware connection details, like what all connections you have made to test this example?

    3. Are you using any media converter board for testing, if yes then can you share the configurations that you have done for that (using the jumpers)

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Hi Shruti,

    I modified the following items:

1.I modified the syscfg of the example(enet_ cpsw_udpclient).

    2.I modified AWR2544LOPEVB following User's Guide AWR2544LOP Evaluation Module.As shown in Figure 2 below:

    3.Hardware info:

  • Hi Danny,

I assume that the only modification you have made in the syscfg is to enable the AUTO PHY, please correct me If I'm wrong and if there is any other modification then mention those here.

Also, I could not see any router in the image that you have shared. please follow the same connection as mentioned in the SDK user guide for this example.

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Hi Shruti,

I just modified the syscfg file. Also,The router is also connected to EVB .

    Regards,

    Danny

  • Hi Xiang,

Can you confirm if you have made the same connection?

You need to have the following connection for the example to work properly -

    1. Connect one ethernet cable between the EVM and router

    2. Connect one ethernet cable from router to the pc.

    3. Connect one ethernet cable from main network to the router, based on this network, the router will assign Ip address to the EVM.

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Hi Shruti,

    1. I'm sure the router is connected to the EVM with one ethernet cable
    2. I'm sure the router is connected to the PC with one ethernet cable
    3. The EVM link status is alway linkdown
    4. I did the External PHY loopback test using mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02 example
      (mcu_plus_sdk_awr2544_09_01_00_05\examples\networking\enet_loopback\enet_cpsw_loopback)
              this test is successful

    1. I did the Analog lookback test base on enet_cpsw_loopback example, and make the following modifications:
① set 0x108 to PHY 0x16 register(switch to analog lookback test) and ensure successful writing
    this test is successful

    Regards,

  • Hi Xiang,

Let me test this example at my end and see if I can reproduce the same here. we'll get back to you by EOD tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Hi Xiang,

We have tested the same example, and it is working fine at our end. Can you try out the following things -

    1. Try using any standard ethernet switch instead of router.

    2. connect one ethernet cable from evm's automotive ethernet port ---->media converter board----->ethernet switch

    3. connect one ethernet cable from your pc to the ethernet switch

    4. connect one ethernet cable from a central network which is running the dhcp server to the ethernet switch. The image you have shared previously, in that I could not see the third ethernet cable from the central network to the switch.

Make sure that you have the above connections and try running the example. I am attaching the console logs that we have got after running the same example at our end.

    Regards,

    Shruti
