TI-SCB: INA700

Part Number: TI-SCB
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA700, INA700EVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am having issues with the TI Cloud Agent installation and download for the TI-SCB board with the INA700 board. I am trying to set up the GUI and have done the step for the browser add-on. The other part for the cloud agent I have installed and downloaded on my computer and when I plug in the boards to my computer it still shows I am missing the step. Not too sure what is going on because I have the folder on my desktop and can see all the stuff in the cloud agent so I know it is there.

I have restarted my computer as well. Please advise.

Thank you,
Marc Duckworth

  • Hello Valued Engineer,

I am sorry you are experiencing this. I am looking this over and will respond shortly.

    Sincerely,

    Peter

  • Hey Marc,

I recommend you try and re-install TI Cloud Agent, but with Administrative Rights. You should have this option when you right click the .exe file and see "Run as Administrator".

Because you have to re-install, the safe thing to do is to uninstall TI Cloud Agent first, but I do not know if that is necessary.

I believe this software needs to be downloaded from Admin level of your computer for it to work.

    Sincerely,

    Peter

  • Peter,

    Re-installing it was successful.

Now the issue I am having is that it is not recognizing my USB. I have privileges to use them because I requested it and have been granted it. Still every time I plug in now it recognizes it for a moment as a com port then after a few seconds goes to other devices shown in the pictures attached.

    Thanks!

  • Hey Marc,

Would please confirm that you download the driver mentioned in the User's Guide? https://www.ti.com/tool/download/SBAC253

Also are you using the GUI Composer application in offline mode, or are you using the browser version on internet?

    Sincerely,

    Peter

  • Peter,

I have it downloaded and ran it as an administrator. I am also using the browser version on the internet. I'm not sure what is going on because this is the issue I am running into now and I have done exactly what the link on this screenshot has told me to do.

    Thanks,
    Marc

  • Hey Marc,

I am really sorry about this. I have reached out to more team members on this, but in meantime please try the following. Please keep in mind that you do not want the SCB plugged in too long with out establishing connection because its bus may time out so every time you retry, make sure to unplug the USB cable.

    1. Please go through all the procedures in the User's Guide located here: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbou241e/sbou241e.pdf.
The message of "No SCB Controller Detected" indicates that you have not updated the firmware. You can update the firmware by clicking File -> Program Device...

If the "Program Device.." is grayed out (non clickable), the follow step 2 of section 3.2.1.2.1

    2. If you are using a desktop CPU, then try using a port in the back.

    3. Avoid using long USB cables and USB hubs.

    4. Try every USB port.

    5. Also try pressing the reset button on the SCB board to reset.

    6. Try connecting to SCB without the INA700EVM attached to see if this helps, but for all other testing, keep EVM connected to SCB.

    Sincerely,

    Peter

  • Peter,

So the Program Device is not grayed out. The issue I see to be running into is that for whatever reason the USB port is not recognizing the board (all usb ports on two seperate laptops do this). Once I plug it in it gives me this message then it goes back to not recognizing it. Here are some pictures to illustrate.

    1. Pressing Program Device when it is not connected it gives me this screen

    2. As soon as I connect the USB I can select it, but it says this

    3. After a few seconds that it is connected it shows this

I am so close to getting this to work yet I have no idea how to fix this because I am following the steps to a T.

    Thank you,
    Marc

  • Hey Marc,

    1. Can you please first plug in the SCB and EVM into USB, and then press the Program Device button?

    2. If not working, can you plug the SCB+EVM into other USB ports and then press Program device button?

    3. Are there no other COM port available in the drop down menu?

    4. Can you change the baud rate? Maybe COM3 is set to a different one?

    5. After you have done this, what happens if you press the reset button on SCB for a few seconds?

Can you try opening the settings for the driver (TivaWare) and the setting for you USB COM ports to make sure there are no bad setting (unexpected baud rates, etc.) or statuses showing up? Did you ever restart your computer after the driver installation, maybe this could be worth a try?

    Sincerely,

    Peter

  • Peter,

I did the program device thing on a separate computer and after a few tries it connected and now it seems to connect every time now on both my computers. It looks like my issue with the connectivity has been resolved. I truly appreciate your time and effort.

    Thank you!

  • No problem. Thank you for your patience.

    Best,
