HDC3022: Questions about data sheet revisions and ADDR pins + nRESET pin

Part Number: HDC3022

Tool/software:

Hello,

We have questions about information added to later revisions of data sheet.

https://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/hdc3022

  1. Rev A -> B change:

“Removed that ADDR and ADDR1 pins can be left floating. The pins must NOT be left floating.”

What is the reason for this change?

If ADDR and ADDR1 were left floating, could this cause any problems to sensor function?

  1. nRESET pin.

Rev A says “If not used, leave floating or tie to VDD.”

Rev D has a information added (page 35), that nRESET pin should not be left floating:

What is the reason for this change?

Could EMI produced glitching cause a failure of the sensor, or some other disturbance?

Thanks, Peter

  • Hello Peter,

As these changes happened some time ago, I will need to check with our team and get back to you on this.

    Regards,

    Harry

  • Harry,
    when can you get back?

    BR,

    Peter

  • Hello Peter,

Thanks for your patience. The datasheet changes for the ADDR and ADDR1 pins was determined based of better layout/design practices. Leaving the pins floating for both address pins could be problematic as their state is not confirmed and they could oscillate between various address making it difficult to interact with the device.

As for the nReset pin recommendation change, this was similarly due to improved layout recommendations from internal testing. This helps to better ensure the device is not unintentionally reset during operation.

    Regards,

    Harry
