IWR6843AOP: timeout issue when trying to connect to DCA1000 from PC via static IP address

Hi all,

we have several PC's (WIN11 and WIN10) that somehow cannot connect to the static IP address of the DCA1000 (stacking IWR6843AOP), and therefore timeout when the MMWAVE-STUDIO (v2.1.1.0) tries to connect to the DCA1000 FPGA.

From a board level of DCA1000/IWR6843AOP, we have one PC that is successfully connecting to the board with successful network connection, therefore the boards and FPGA firmware revision are functional.

Therefore we believe there is some kind of an issue with the PC allowing the network connection to the static IP address and port number potentially. Can you let us know which port number is being used or any other specifics to look out for when checking the PC configuration?

We are trying to make sure the PC is not for some reason blocking this network traffic.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I am going to the guess the issue they are running into is the Unable to Read FPGA Version [-5] error. Have they tried disabling the firewall on the computer that has issues?

Hi Pedrhom,

yes, they have disabled the firewall on the computer. Unfortunately on my PC the admin doesn't allow to disable the firewall.

But I verified that I can ping another Linux box configured with static IP on the same subnet, and that worked. Are there specific ports that the DCA1000 sends packets over, that may get filtered by the PC?

DCA1000 should show up as four DevPack COM ports, which I am assuming they are right? In total there should be six com ports visible when both DCA1000 and radar sensor is connected. Has different Ethernet cables been attempted? We have multiple places of evidence where the same cable for some reason will work on one computer but not the other. This has happened to me, and here is a recent thread on exactly this.

Hi Pedrhom,

the COM ports all show up and there is no issue to connect to the DCA1000 and 6432AOP board. The issue is the ethernet connection and the related timeout.

We will check other ethernet cables.

Are there any port configurations on the PC side that could get in the way?
