AWR2544LOPEVM: How to change the Automotive Ethernet in Demo program from the default “Master” mode to the “Slave" mode？

When we use 2544 Demo program (C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\ti\demo\awr2544\mmw\ demo), Want to change the mode of Ethernet, the default is Master mode in the program, we want to change it to Slave mode, how to set it?

We have seen related posts asking similar questions, which mentioned that modifying the configuration in MDIO Config in mmw.syscfg (shown below) will not do the trick. Is there anything else that needs to be modified?

Hi Jack,

With the AWR2544LOPEVM, the device should work out of the box without changing the mode. Can you please let me know why are you trying to update this configuration?

The default master mode of the device can be run directly, but at present, due to the needs of the project, we need to set the network mode to slave mode. Can you tell me how to achieve this function?Thank you

Hi Jack,

You mean you want to change the mode of the MDI interface?

In that case it can be changed using the register config or bootstrap config of the PHY.

In the mmw demo project, the mmw.syscfg has a "set as master" field. Unchecking this field, rebuilding, and flashing does not appear to correctly set up slave mode in my out-of-box firmware either. See the same situation, posted here [unresolved]:

I assumed unchecking the "set as master" sysConfig component would disable bit 14 in the PMA_CTL2 register in the mmw demo, but another modification appears necessary.

Hi Ross,

The syscfg changes the mode of MDIO, which is the interface between PHY and SoC for control purpose. Whereas you are looking for MDI interface which is the interface between PHY and external switch/external device, this has to be done by either bootstrap config or calling the PHY register write API. It is not handled by syscfg.
