TMAG5273EVM: TMAG5273 EVM Suddenly Stopped Working

Part Number: TMAG5273EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG5273,

Tool/software:

I have been working with the TMAG5273 EVM for several days without any issues. However, today it suddenly only detects the SCB and not the TMAG5273. I suspect there may be an issue with a pin that is malfunctioning, as I have already updated the firmware and restarted the computer multiple times. I would like to know if there is anything I might be overlooking that could help resolve this issue.

  • Hi Javier,

Thank you for posting to the Sensors forum!

For my knowledge, is the GUI having trouble recognizing the TMAG5273 for both the A1 and A2 variant?

Also are you able to monitor the I2C lines to see if the TMAG5273 on board is acknowledging the I2C commands? If the device is not acknowledging any I2C commands, it can be an indicator that the device has somehow died.

    Best,

  • Hi Alicia,

I'm sharing this image from the GUI , which might be helpful for your analysis. However, I believe the TMAG5273 may have failed.

I appreciate your assistance and any additional advice you can provide.

    Best,
    Javier

  • Hi Javier,

To clarify, are you getting this error message for both the A1 and A2 variant? The goal of this question is more so to identify if the GUI is able to work with another TMAG5273EVM. The TMAG5273EVM should have come with 2 variants, the A1 and the A2, and I am hoping that the other one which you may have not been using still works.

Furthermore, as I previously mentioned, if you are able to monitor the I2C of the EVM, this would prove incredibly useful as it can help determine if the device is even acknowledging the I2C commands.

Additionally, you can also try replacing the TMAG5273 with a new device to see if that is able to solve the issue.

  • Hi Javier,

I just wanted to follow up to see if you are still having issues or were able to get the problem resolved.

  • Hi Javier,

As I haven't heard from you in a couple of weeks, I am going to assume that you were able to resolve the issue and close this thread. If this isn't the case or you still have issues, please feel free to re-open this thread or ask a related question.

  • Hi Alice,

    Sorry for the late answer.

I checked as you said to me and the conclusion was that the EVM was broken.

I have another one and everything is running without any problem.

    Thank for your time.

    Best,

    Javier
