TMAG3001EVM: Drivers and Source code for MSP-EXP432E401Y

Part Number: TMAG3001EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG3001, MSP-EXP432E401Y, MSP432E401Y, , TI-SCB, TMAG5173-Q1, TMAG5170, TMAG5273

Tool/software:

1) How do I get the drivers and download programs to test the TMAG3001 with MSP-EXP432E401Y development board?

2) Is there C source code I can build on CC studio?

  • Hi Eric,

Thank you for posting to the Sensors forum!

The easiest way to do this would be to go to open CCS on your desktop and do the following:

    1. Under Getting Started, select Browse and Import Examples

    2. Search for the MSP432E401Y launchpad and select it

    3. Select the empty project along with the CCS - TI Compiler for the compiler and press Create

    4. From here you can import the files from the code examples provided on the TMAG3001EVM product page

Just keep in mind, there will most likely be some functions that you will need to replace/create such as the INIT_PAMB and getSysClockHz functions, etc.

  • Thanks Alicia, we have a couple of follow up questions:

    1) Does TMAG3001, or any other TI TMAG product have source code to aid software development?{(All products have an EVM but only demo code with TI-SCB MSP430.  We are hoping for the source code related to the demos.
    2) TMAG3001 appears to be the only part which has a built-in angle calculator. Is there any other with angle calculator?
    3) Although TMAG3001 has a recent data sheet, the data sheet indicates end of life. Is TMAG3001 at end of life?
    4) Is the TMAG3001EVM /TI-SCB or an equivalent MSP430 board software source code available?  If yes, how do we get it?
    Appreciate the help.
  • Hi Eric,

    1. As mentioned previously, we do provide example code to help aid in software development.
    2. In addition to the TMAG3001, the following devices also have a built-in angle CORIC: TMAG5173-Q1, TMAG5273, and the TMAG5170.
    3. The TMAG3001 is not at it's end of life and was only fully released to production earlier this year. I am a bit confused as to where in the datasheet it mentions it is at its EOL. If you could help to point it out, I would be grateful as I do not want others to come away believing that this device is at its EOL.
    4. The kind of code that we typically provide along with our devices is the example code previously mentioned which can be found on the product page.

    Best,

    ~Alicia
