IWRL6432BOOST: IWRL6432BOOST EVM ES1.0 Issue with Visualizer Not Displaying Data

Part Number: IWRL6432BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, IWR6843ISK, IWRL6432

Tool/software:

I’m encountering an issue with the IWRL6432BOOST. After flashing the example, there is no output on the Visualizer, and the terminal only displays multiple b'' messages followed by "No Data Detected."

I’ve used various versions of radar_toolbox and flashed the EVM with both UniFlash and MMWAVE Radar Visualizer version 05.03.00.02, but both methods yield the same result: no output.

Radar Toolbox Versions and Examples Tested: I have tried the following examples with each version, all resulting in the same issue:

radar_toolbox_1.10.00.13

  • gesture_recognition_demo.Release
  • motion_and_presence_detection_demo.release

radar_toolbox_2.00.00.06

  • mmwave_demo_xwrl6432
  • high_accuracy_xwrl64xx_demo
  • xwrl6432_gesture_recognition_demo.Release
  • bike_radar_demo_6432.Release
  • vital_signs_xwrl64xx_demo.Release

radar_toolbox_2.20.00.05

  • mmwave_demo_xwrl6432
  • high_accuracy_xwrl64xx_demo
  • xwrl6432_gesture_recognition_demo.Release
  • bike_radar_demo_6432.Release
  • vital_signs_xwrl64xx_demo.Release

I have fully followed all the steps in the documentation, including SW and performing a reset.

PS:

1) I tried using Realterm to send sensorStart commands but did not receive any data response.

2) I tested the same steps and examples on the IWR6843ISK, which did not exhibit this issue.

  • Hi,

Do you get any output in a serial terminal when you plug your device in? Please send screenshots. Can you also try flipping the two S5 switches OFF?

    Best,

    Nate

  • I have already tried the following steps:

    1. (Tried updating the XDS110 firmware through CCS)
    2. Set S5 to OFF and S1 to programming mode.
    3. Reflashed the 2.00.00.06 version of IWRL6432_People_Tracking.
    4. Switched back to Functional Mode.
    5. Reconnected the USB and reset the EVM.
    6. Used the 2.00.00.06 version of Application Visualizer.

However, the issue described earlier still persists, and there is no change.

Additionally, after reinserting the device, I’ve attached the following screenshots in Functional Mode(I also tried pressing Enter a few times in terminal):

    1. The screen when only connected to Realterm (without connection to the Visualizer).
    2. The screen when only connected to the Visualizer.

I also tested the 6843 on hand, and under the same steps, I got the following results.

  • Hello.

It looks like you have the switches flipped for the set of 4 switches(S4).  Can you try having switches 1, 2, and 3 in the off position and switch 4 in the on position?

    Sincerely,

    Santosh
