I am trying to understand both the working principle of the RANSAC algorithm and the reasons why it needs to be implemented. As far as I understand, it is essential to know the velocity of the vehicle on which the radar is mounted to estimate the absolute velocity of detected targets, such as other vehicles. Additionally, it is important that the selection of reflection points focuses on dynamic objects. This is why the RANSAC algorithm is used to filter out stationary objects and select random points associated with dynamic ones, fit polynomial models, and so on. However, I couldn’t find any articles explaining why this algorithm is specifically used in automotive radar systems. I just want to confirm whether my understanding of the algorithm’s application in this context is correct. That’s why I need your assistance with this subject.
