TMP1075: TMP1075N placement

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are using TMP1075N temp sensor with AM6442 processor. Planning to use the temp sensor near to soc for temp measurement of soc. But we have heat sink outline for soc, so we can only place the temp sensor 1cm apart from soc. Hope the temperature is coupled through the GND plane. is it ok to place 1cm apart from soc? will it decrease the efficiency?. Please suggest one efficient placement for the temp sensor.

  • Hi Jitesh,

In this case, a commong ground connection would provide the best thermal transfer path betweent the uC and the temperature sensor. Another thing to consider (if possible) would be to place the device on the opposite side of the PCB (top vs. bottom) to have the sensor closer than what the heat sink allows. I would also recommend minimizing the size of the ground path to reduce the thermal mass--this will improve thermal response and couple the sensor thermally with the uC more accurately.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about this.

    Best regards,

    Simon Rojas
