TMP117: Calibration method inquiry.

Part Number: TMP117

Tool/software:

I have read answers to questions about the accuracy of TMP117 in the TI community and answers that calibration is not necessary at the operating temperature of TMP117.
I am working on a project to measure the temperature uniformity of a heated or cooled object.
I am using multiple TMP117s to measure the temperature, and the PCB is covered with a case to protect it.
1. In the above structure, I think I need to calibrate the TMP117 due to the effect of the case. Is my thinking correct?
2. If I need to calibrate, I think I need to calibrate using an Oil Bath to ensure the temperature accuracy guaranteed by the TMP117. Is that correct?
3. If I calibrate using an Oil Bath, is the only way to put the product in Oil? Or can you give me some advice on other methods?

Please reply.

Thank you.

  • Hello Jeff,

No calibration is needed for TMP117. TMP117 should achieve its accuracy as soon as the product is in use. If you need a schematic, PCB, and/or I2C scope shot review, you can post them here for me to debug.
