HDC3021: whether to add pullup resistors to VDD if connect ADDR and ADDR1 to VDD

Part Number: HDC3021

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

If we want to connect ADDR and ADDR1 to VDD, should we add pullup resistors or just connect to VDD directly? Thanks.

BR,

Skylar

  • Skylar,

Pull-up resistors are not necessary when tying ADDR and ADDR1 to VDD. However, placing them can help protect against a fault event, like if the pins try to pull low, the pull-ups can protect VDD. So it would be fine to put them in, but is not necessary.

  • Hi Alex,

Customer  questioned if there are resistors or something else protection inside the ADDR or ADDR1 because they are afraid of these two pins ADDR and ADDR1 will be damaged if connecting to power supply directly.

Could you pls share the overall inside block diagram of these two pins? Thanks.

    BR,

    Skylar

  • Skylar,

I don't believe I can share a block diagram on E2E, but on the ADDR & ADDR1 pins there is an ESD diode to GND. I have been connecting these pins directly to power supply with no issue for years, so they customer should not experience any issues with that.
