AWRL1432BOOST: Chirp RF Spectrum Clarification on AWRL1432

Part Number: AWRL1432BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWRL1432

Tool/software:

Hi TI Expert,

I am using the AWRL1432 EVM to measure the RF spectrum as shown in the figure below.

I was wondering why the waveform appears as highlighted in red.

Is this normal for a millimeter-wave signal in the spectrum?

Thanks,

JN

  • Hi TI Team,

Could someone please respond this issue?

    Thanks,

    JN

  • Hi JN,

Thanks for reaching out to us over E2E. We don't expect this kind of behavior for FMCW chirps. Can you please confirm the following.

    1. Can you please confirm the silicon version which you are using?
    2. Which demo was running on the board when you have performed this test?
    3. Are you observing the same behavior across different start frequencies and slopes?
  • Hi Kundan,

    Thank you for your response.

1.The Silicon version is shown in the image below.

    2. I was using below demo software.
    mmwave_demo_xwrL14xx-evm_m4fss0-0_freertos_ti-arm-clang

3.I haven't tried other frequencies and slopes. Will this affect the RF spectrum waveform?
Below are the radar parameter configurations.

    chirpComnCfg 8 0 0 512 4 43.9 3
    chirpTimingCfg 8 25 0 40 77
    channelCfg 7 3 0
    frameCfg 64 0 4000 1 100 0
    factoryCalibCfg 0 0 40 0 0

    Thanks,

    JN

  • Hi JN,

Sorry for the late reply. Can you please confirm if this behavior is observed in TDM mode also with single TXs enabled?
