AWR2544LOPEVM: AWR2544LOPEVM Eval Board Unable To Get Demo Working from Provided Documentation

Part Number: AWR2544LOPEVM

Tool/software:

I am unable to get the AWR2544LOPEVM evaluation kit (recently purchased) to operate after downloading mmWave Studio 3.01.04.04, downloading the MATLAB toolbox in the manuals on TI's site, and all needed drivers. The communication ports are seen with no error in device manager. I would at the very least like to have the plug and play functionality working to start working with the device. The software can only connect to it when connected to the FTID USB port. I downloaded the mmWave Demo Studio Visualizer 4.7.0 and it is unable to connect to the device when using the XDS port. Is there another piece of software I am missing to use this? Do I need to connect additional cabling to the eval kit (proper power cable is connected and using just one micro USB port - does ethernet need to be connected as well?). I also noticed in the mmWave Studio 3.01.04.04 software that it comes up with firewall warnings with functionality that may be blocked. Being a stand alone software, why would it be triggering firewall warnings on my company computer and is this even a concern for it to start using the eval module anyways?

  • Hello,

For mmwave studio you should follow the instructions in the user guide located at. This will help you get the environment setup and connected.

    C:\ti\mmwave_studio_03_01_04_04\docs\mmwave_studio_user_guide.pdf

For SDK, you need to follow the instructions located at

    C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\docs\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_user_guide.pdf

    C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_06_01_02\docs\mmWave_Demo_Visualizer_UserGuide.pdf

For AWR2544LOPEVM, the demo visualizer does not work in Windows. You need to use linux only and the RJ45 port must be connected and setup properly. Yes, I agree it is not exactly simple to get everything running the first time. It will take some effort and reading through the documentation to get it working.
