TMP302: ESD diode between /OUT & Vs?

Part Number: TMP302

Tool/software:

I assume there's an ESD diode from the /OUT pin to the Vs pin, or is there a voltage clamp on the /OUT pin?

I want the chip to ground/release the mid point on potential divider.

Under normal circumstances the voltage on the /OUT pin will be around 1.5V, well under the 4V limit, but if the lower resistor of the divider should fail, the very high value upper resistor would be connected to a rail higher than 4V, as such the TMP302 would fail unless the ESD diode would keep the ~300uA from charging the output pin.

Confirmation of this diode means our implementation would be fault tolerant.

  • Hi Derek,

The device features an ESD diode between OUT and GND. I would have to check whether it features a diode between OUT and supply. This is also something you could test by grounding supply and sinking current into the device's OUT pin while reading voltage using an SMU. With this method you should be able to read a diode drop if there is a diode between OUT and supply.

    Best regards,
