HDC3022-Q1: Unique Way to Identify the IC

Part Number: HDC3022-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC3020

Tool/software:

Hi TI Expert,

1. We would like to know how to effective identify the HDC302x-Q1 on our board if we have multiple device on it.

Although we support 4 different address but we would like to know whether there's further way to identify the unit.

For example, we can use "Read Manufacturer ID" or "Read NIST ID" to clarify whether it's HDC302x-Q1.

2. May I know whether below six PN all show the same result when we check "Read Manufacturer ID" or "Read NIST ID" ?

=> For example, When manufacturing complete, we can use SW and read those Reg to make sure we didn't build the wrong HDC302x-Q1 on the board.

3. May I know the exact Reg value returned by the "Read NIST ID" command?

This value is the same among all PN?

Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you.

  • Hi Evan,

Each HDC302x device is configured with a unique 48-bit code that is used to support traceability. The value can be used to represent the unique serial number for that device. This is the "NIST ID". Please refer to the HDC3022 datasheet section 7.5.7.9 on how to read the NIST ID.

The "Manufacturer ID" always reads 0x3000 for all HDC302X devices (such as HDC3020/3021/3022). The "NIST ID" will be a unique value for each individual sensor.

  • Hi Sakeenah,

    Got it.

Could you also provide the NIST_ID value after we follow the section 7.5.7.9.

We want to make sure the reported NIST_ID value is expected.

Since different PN has different NIST_ID so I will also need the value of them accordingly.

  • Hi Evan,

The NIST ID is unique for each individual unit, meaning there are thousands of possible ID numbers. Because of that, unfortunately I cannot tell you what the NIST IDs are for your exact units. But if you would like to try reading and share the values, then I can check if they are valid. Thanks!

    Best,

    Sakeenah
