Hi, All.

For data logging using DCA1000, what's the signal should be routed?

RDIF (x12), SPI (x4), UART (x2), RESET (x1) are enough?

I already check the below question (for AWR6843)

Hi Manwoo,

Yes, RDIF (x12), SPI (x5), RS232 (x2), RESET (x1) are sufficient for AWRL6432 data logging via DCA1000. I2C and JTAG are good to have in the design but not required for raw data capture.

Hi Manwoo,

Just wanted to mention one point here. You will need to consider HOST_INTR_1 signal also for successful SPI communication. This signal acts as SPI_HOST_INTR.

So, in total, RDIF (x12), SPI (x5), RS232 (x2), RESET (x1) are required for AWRL6432 data logging via DCA1000.

SPI/RS232/AR_RESET's functions are same with below answer?

- SPI is used to send commands from studio to MSS application which calls mmWavelink APIs.

- RS232 is used to download the firmware when using the mmWave studio.

- AR_RESET is to give the reset assertion from mmWave studio.

Hi Manwoo,

Yes, the above description is correct. However, I was highlighting that SPI has 5 signals - spi clk, spi cs, spi miso, spi mosi and spi host intr(10th pin of connector).

I have more question about DCA1000 raw data capture with coustom board.

When we use the our custom board, XDS110 debug should be attached?

I'm little confused, because when we use the mmWave studio, we sholud select the SOP Control tap.

Can we skip the selection of this tab? (Surely, we set the SOP status through HW setting)

Is capturing the raw data it possible without TM4C1294 MCU?

And, why AWRL6432 EVK has the JATG interface at 60pin connector, but 60pin connector hasn't JTAG interface at DCA1000?

Hi Manwoo,

We need RS232 connectivity for loading the APPSS and FECSS firmware. During data capture, we use XDS110 for this purpose only.
If you can control the SOP through HW settings, then the SOP Control tap is not required.
Capturing raw data without TM4C1294 MCU is possible. However, you will need to load the firmware through RS232 via mmWave studio tool as mentioned in the first point.
TM4C1294 MCU can be used on the board for JTAG connectivity.
AWRL6432 EVM - 60 pin connector has JTAG interface connectivity. But it is not useful since DCA1000- 60 pin connector does not have JTAG connectivity.
One more thing from the image, it looks like you are using the old firmware. Please use the latest firmware available in the latest SDK (MMWAVE-L-SDK Software development kit (SDK) | TI.com). Also, kindly untick the FEC Eclipse Mem Cfg before loading the firmware.

I don't understand exactly about your first mention.

AWRL6432 EVK and DCA1000 are connected RS232 interface through 60pin connector.

Also, DCA1000 has a USB port and USB to RS232 PHY. APSSS and FECSS firmware can't be loaded via DCA1000 USB port?

Why XDS110 used for RS232 interface?
