AWR2944: AWR2944

Part Number: AWR2944

Tool/software:

I have some questions about the AWR2944 radar sensor. I would like to adapt it for human rescue application.

1. Is it possible to configure the radar sensor frequency range from 76-81GHz to 300Mhz-3GHz ? In this range, radar waves have better penetration under ground. We would like to adapt your sensor for USAR (Urban search & Rescue) application
2. In which format can we get the data output out of your sensor ? Raw ADC data ? UDP packets (till you are speacking about an Ethernet output interface) ?
3. Is there any first stage filtering done inside the radar sensor ?
4. Is the some human recognition algorithm done inside the radar sensor ?
5. It is possible to connect the radar sensor to 8 Tx and 8 Rx antennas. Could you please tell us if it is the only combination possible ? E.g 2 Tx and 6 Rx antennas ... ?
6. Could you please provide us with some more information about the antennas layout ? Size ? Datasheet ?

  • Hello,

Someone from the team will get back to you shortly.

  • Hello,

Sorry, I posted a reply to this yesterday but it seems like it failed to post for some reason.

    1. The sensor is configurable for chirps up to 4.5GHz BW, so you can choose to operate either from 76-80.5GHz or 76.5-81GHz. You cannot operate outside of this range.

    2. We have LVDS/CSI2 for raw ADC data. For processed data we have CAN FD and Ethernet (RGMII).

    3. We have a user configurable HPF in the analog front end and a LPF in the DFE which will automatically be configured based on your IF bandwidth. You can review the datasheet for the available filter settings.

    4. The radar contains a C66x processor for advanced algorithms. You can refer to the resource explorer for available example applications.

    5. No, it is no possible to cascade the AWR2944. The max number of antennas is 4x4.

    6. You can refer to the AWR2944EVM user guide for the antenna design. We also provide the design files for the EVM which you can download and measure dimensions yourself.
