IWRL6432: Does xWRL6432 and xWRL6844 support multiple chirp functions?

Part Number: IWRL6432

Tool/software:

Hi Expert,

Does xWRL6432 and xWRL6844 support multiple chirp functions?

The information found so far seems to be that only 6843 can have this setting.

Please help provide relevant information

Thanks

Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

I want to make sure I understand the question completely. By "multiple chirp functions" do you mean multiple chirps in a frame having different chirp profiles as discussed on this page? If this is not what you mean can you please clarify?

    Thanks and regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Josh,

Yes,we would like to do the similar function as you mentioned in the page on IWRL6432.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Please see Sensor Per-Chirp Configuration (section 2.4.5) in the interface control document for 6432 (C:\ti\MMWAVE_L_SDK_05_05_03_00\firmware\mmwave_dfp\docs). The device provides the option to dither/vary a selected set of parameters for every chirp. However, this is not currently supported by the SDK examples. Our examples currently only support the Sensor Chirp Profile Time Configuration API in which the FMCW radar chirp profile timing parameters are common for all chirps in a frame.

    Best regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Josh,

Thanks for your reply. Per my understanding, current SDK of IWRL6432 do not support multi-chirp.

    Is it correct? Thanks.

  • Hi,

That is correct. While the device itself and the front end firmware should support this functionality, the SDK and out of box demo does not. So we have not tested this in that context.

    Best regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Josh,

Thanks for the reply and I would like to ask another question.

We would try to add multi chirp function in our firmware and do you have any document related to front end firmware which describe the detail abount multi chirp setting.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Yes. Please refer to the doc in my earlier post Section 2.4.5 in the interface control document for 6432 (C:\ti\MMWAVE_L_SDK_05_05_03_00\firmware\mmwave_dfp\docs\mmwave_dfp_interface_control_document.pdf).

    Best regards,

    Josh
