IWR6843AOP: Signal Identification Mechanism and Tx Antenna Gain (dBi) for IWR6843AOP

Part Number: IWR6843AOP

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are preparing for KC certification using the IWR6843AOP and have two questions that we would like assistance with:

  1. Signal Identification Mechanism:

    • While preparing for KC certification, we would like to confirm the mechanism for preventing interference with other devices by using device-specific identification codes or patterns.
    • For instance, we are interested in how the chirp signal operates within a specific pattern to avoid signal interference with other devices.
    • We have reviewed documents related to Interference Mitigation, but we couldn’t find detailed information regarding device-specific identification information (codes/patterns). Could you provide materials or details about this mechanism?

  1. Tx Antenna Gain (dBi):

    • We found the EIRP value (max 15 dBm) in the datasheet, but we could not locate specific information about the Tx antenna gain (dBi).
    • Could you please provide the exact value of the Tx antenna gain?

We would greatly appreciate your response and any relevant documents regarding these two questions, as they are crucial for KC certification and testing.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

  • Hi,

Please find more resources in the below link regarding interference mitigation:

  • Hi Swarnendu,

    Thank you for your response.

I have reviewed the resources you provided regarding Interference Mitigation. However, my primary concern is about the mechanism for using device-specific identification codes or patterns to prevent interference between multiple radar devices operating in the same frequency band.

While the interference mitigation documents cover techniques such as threshold-based interference detection and filtering, they do not explicitly mention using unique identification codes or patterns at the device level to distinguish signals and avoid interference.

For KC certification, we need to confirm whether TI provides any official documentation on how device-specific identification mechanisms (e.g., unique chirp patterns, device-specific codes, or other techniques) can be used to mitigate interference.

Could you please confirm if there is any TI whitepaper, application note, SDK feature, or other official documentation that explicitly addresses this topic?

Your assistance in providing this information would be highly valuable.

Thank you again for your support!

  • Hi Lim,

Chirp parameters dithering and randomization can be implemented to mitigate interferences. You can find details on this in application note Interference Mitigation For AWR/IWR Devices (https://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra662a/swra662a.pdf).

You can use chirp config APIs to randomize certain chirp parameters. For the API guide, please refer to the interface control document:

    mmWave Radar Interface Control Document

AWR_CHIRP_CONF_SET_SB - this API can be used to control the chirp parameters.

I would also like you to review the below resource:

Please let me know if you have any further queries on this.

    Thanks
