IWR6843ISK: Data file from DCA1000 is different if Hardware triggered

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Tool/software:

I can run the IWR6843ISK with mmWaveStudio in software trigger or hardware trigger.  When I use the default settings in mmWaveStudio, I get samples/chirp = 256, chirps = 128, and frames = 8.  This amounts to the correct calculated number of words in the adc_data.bin file. when software triggered.  However, when I trigger with hardware input, the number of words is 1/8 the total.  I assumed this was then doing only 1 frame, but the data doesn't appear to be stored in that format.  Please tell me now the hardware triggered data is stored in the file.

The way I can tell, is if I plot say chirp 1 antenna 1  frame 1 vs chirp 2 antenna 1 frame one, the data is almost an exact overlay, as expected.  But using hardware trigger, the data does not match very well.

Please give me the new format.  It is not in the documentation that I can find.

Regards,

Larry

  • HI Larry,

We're looking into your question. Please give us a couple of days to respond.

    Thanks,

  • Josh,

I think after looking more, it may be the data is the same format but actually only doing one frame.   The overlay is not as exact as it used to be.  Unknown why.

New question:  Can I get a hardware output from the IWR6843ISK board or DCA1000 from the 6843 that shows me exactly when a chirp is sent?  I want to use a scope and look at the timing of all the chirps.  Thanks!
