Dear Experts,

I hope this message finds you well.

In the “AWR6843_CPD_with_Classification” version of the InCabin_Sensing lab, we observed that when an object approaches the radar at close distances, the number of point clouds (in all zones) drops to zero, despite the presence of line-of-sight between other targets and the radar. This behavior is not suitable for our application, as we need to preserve the point clouds even when an object is near the radar. Could you please provide guidance on how and where we might address this issue?

Thank you.

  • Hey Amir,

Thanks for reaching out regarding this behavior. This may be due to antenna coupling drowning out the signal of the object as it gets closer to the device. I would recommend following the steps below for Range Bias and Rx Channel Gain/Phase Measurement and Compensation:

You can also find these steps in the SDK Millimeter Wave Demo documentation under <MMWAVE_SDK_INSTALL_DIR>/packages/ti/demo/xwr64xx/mmw/docs/doxygen/html/index.html. Let me know if these steps help!

    Regards,

    Kristien
