FDC1004: Question about output rate

Part Number: FDC1004

Tool/software:

Dear TI experts,

I found that FDC1004 can set measurement rate by contolling 0x0C register.

But I am little confused. Is "Measurement Rate" same as "Output Rate"?

(Page 1 says about "Output rate", Page 17 says about "Measurement Rate".)

Because I have a question that if there are any calculation or conversion in FDC1004, then "Output Rate" is little lower than "Measurement Rate" if calculation or conversion takes long time.

So finally I want to know that I can receive 400S/s data if I set RATE field of 0x0C as b11. (or little slower?)

Please check this issue. Thanks.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Chase,

Thank you for your feedback. You are right, the wording is not as consistent as it should be.

The Output Rate and Measurement Rate are the same thing: it specifies the rate at which the FDC1004 polls through the input channels.

You can set the Measurement Rate to 400S/s if you set the RATE field of the FDC Register (Address: 0x0C) to b11.

    regards,
    John
