AWR2243: Questions about AWR2243 and IWR2243

Part Number: AWR2243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR2243, , AM2732

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer wants to cascade two or three devices of IWR2243 or AWR2243.

SPI and CSI2 are required for cascading as described in the data sheet. Correct ?

Also, they are considering adopting AM2732 as a radar processor for now.

Is it possible to use any other processor by another company for cascading ?

If it is not possible, it would be appreciated if you could tell them the reason why.

Could you tell them why AWR2243 doesn’t have QSPI ?

Is there any other difference between IWR2243 and AWR2243 other than support temp and Q100 ?

Thanks and regards,

Hideaki

  • Hi,

SPI and CSI2 are needed for AWR2243 to work, both in single chip and cascade. SPI is used for control and configuration of the AWR2243 using the mmwavelink API, and received data is streamed out over CSI2.

Please review the Programmer's Guide for more info.

If it is not possible, it would be appreciated if you could tell them the reason why.

AM2732 is a great option for enabling the customer to start quick evaluation and development of 2-chip cascade. TIDA-020047 (Orderable: AWR2243-2X-CAS-EVM). It is also possible to use another different processor as long as it can interface with the sensors.

Could you tell them why AWR2243 doesn’t have QSPI ?

AWR2243 relies on the host processor (e.g. AM2732) to load firmware via SPI during initialization. It doesn't have QSPI because it doesn't boot on its own from onboard flash.

Is there any other difference between IWR2243 and AWR2243 other than support temp and Q100 ?

    No.

    Thank you,

    Jin
