AWR2243BOOST: NERR_OUT lights up when clicking RF Power-up

Hi Team,

Our customer has encountered an issue with their newly purchased AWR2243BOOST. Since he's currently unable to post and the board is still within warranty, I'm posting below on his behalf:

I bought a new AWR2243BOOST radar and tried to capture raw data using mmWave Studio. But the NERR_OUT lights up when clicking RF Power-up. The figure attached show my hardware and software setup and the error state.

I doubt that there are hardware defects since this was my first use, and I have another AWR2243BOOST radar board and I replaced it with that one, everything was ok. Could you please help me confirm possible issues? Could I apply for a replacement via the distributor DigiKey if it is confirmed to be a hardware problem?

Hello,

I do not see any USB connected to XDS110 on the AWR2243BOOST.

You need to connect that and use that port for the RS232 port.

Also, I only see a jumper on SOP0. There should also be a jumper on SOP1 to set the correct SOP mode.

Thanks for your advice. I adopted the USB connections and jumper settings you suggested, but the fault remains the same. The NERR_OUT lights up when clicking RF Power-up.

I am using a DC 5V 3A power. BTW, I have another AWR2243BOOST board, and it works fine with the same settings.

You see where the MSS Firmware version shows up 0.0.0.000, this shouldnt happen. This shows MSS powerup likely wont happen.

In your previosu connection, the Device ID would show up as 0-0-0-0 which also shouldnt happen.

Both these are symptoms of not using the right firmware and studio combination for the device you are working with.

Thanks. Though I used your firmware, the MSS version is still 0.0.0.0. Before clicking rf power up, it shows:

the Device ID is correct but the MSS version is wrong. After clicking rf power up, dev id is cleared.

I believe something might be wrong with the first EVM. Can you please show this thread to our customer service team and request a replacement EVM.
