BOOSTXL-TUSS4440: Compatiblity with EVAL6491 for higher power

Part Number: BOOSTXL-TUSS4440
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC1000, TUSS4440

Tool/software:

1. We need to excite a EMAT transmitter coil with tone burst hamming window at 190KHz and power of 50W, so can we connect a external H-bridge module EVAL6491 to boost the power along with an impedance matching        network. So, can you tell whether EVAL6491 is compatible with BOOSTXL-TUSS4440 ?
2. Can we process the receiver signal also in BOOSTXL-TUSS4440 ?
3. Can we create any arbitrary waveform of any number of cycle and any frequency within the range specified in the datasheet ?
4. How about we go with tdc1000 instead of tuss4440, will it be compatible with the eval6491 to get a high power of 50W and producing a tone-burst signal of 190KHz.

  • Hi Sudhir,

Thank you for posting to the Sensors forum!

I don't know if we have ever tried to use the BOOSTXL-TUSS4440 EVM with the EVAL6491, I will have to check with my team on this and get back to you by the end of tomorrow.

    Best,

    ~Alicia

  • Hi Sudhir,

Thank you for the interest in our  BOOSTXL-TUSS4440 EVM!

Regarding your questions, please see my responses below:

    2. If the return signal meets the requirements for the signal paths, it should be fine.

    3. Yes, so long as you are able to find an IO that meets the signal requirements.

Regarding your first and last question, unfortunately, my team is not too familiar with the EVAL6491 board and whether or not it would be compatible with any of our EVMs. You can certainly try using the EVAL6491 with the EVM to see if you are able to get them to work together.

    Best,

    ~Alicia
