TMP432: About the GND collector-connected configuration on TMP432

Part Number: TMP432

Tool/software:

Hi AE,

The specification uses a PNP transistor.

Please help explain what issues might occur if an NPN transistor is used instead.

Maybe it's actually acceptable to use it this way — but if so, what’s the reason behind it?

Best Regards

  • Hello Bruce,

TMP432 was designed to accommodate both PNP and PNP transistors. Both can provide the same level of accuracy of the remote junction. The choice is your preference. NPNs need to be diode connected.
