TMP61: Measuring point

Part Number: TMP61

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

Is there any documentation that describes the temperature difference between the inside of the IC and the board temperature, which is an important factor in replacing the NTC?

Best Regards,

Yusuke

  • Yusuke-san,

The difference between the temperature inside the TMP61 and the PCB temperature is going to be determined by the thermal resistance of the package between them. The TMP61 has the following thermal resistance table:

And this document, Semiconductor and IC Package Thermal Metrics,  explains these numbers further. For you, the junction-to-board to thermal resistance is most relevant. The thermal resistance to the PCB is lower than the resistance to ambient (actual number depends on the package), meaning that heat flows more easily from inside the IC and the PCB.

    Thanks
