AWR2944EVM: Flashing the AWR2944EVM from SDK 4.7 to SDK 4.2 using UniFlash

Part Number: AWR2944EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, UNIFLASH

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

I'm working with the AWR2944EVM and DCA1000EVM and using the open-source ROS package xwr_raw_ros, which appears to require SDK version 4.2.0, based on the .cfg files provided (e.g., % Created for SDK ver:04.02).

Currently, my radar is running firmware from SDK 4.7, and when I run the config through the ROS interface, the device responds only with repeated CCCCCCCCCCC and never sends Done. I suspect this is due to SDK incompatibility.

My questions are:

1. Is it safe to flash the AWR2944EVM from SDK 4.7 to SDK 4.2 using UniFlash?

2. Can I later re-flash it back to SDK 4.7 without any issues or side effects?

3. Are there any conditions, or limitations. I should be aware of when switching SDK versions on this platform?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Hi,

There should be absolutely no side effects in switching between SDK versions as long the device you have is shown as supported in that SDK. Please refer to the mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_user_guide in each of SDK to understand the features supported in that version, you may specifically want to look at chapter 4 which has details related to flashing tools.

    Regards,

    Shailesh
