TMCS1126-Q1: Can the VREF pin be left floating when not used

Part Number: TMCS1126-Q1

Tool/software:

Can the VREF pin be left floating when not used?

What will the accuracy be if it is not used?

  • Ken,

Thanks for using E2E. Yes, if the VREF pin is not in use, you can leave this floating.

If you do not use the reference pin, accuracy should remain the same for the device. The output referenced to ground would simply contain the reference voltage as an additional quantity, and would contain a DC shift of this magnitude (ie, the zero offset point on a DMM would be the sum of the reference voltage and the offset voltage). This signal can contain some additional errors which we document in the electrical characteristics table of the datasheet that will need to be taken into consideration of the total output error.
