Interfacing LM95071 with PIC microcontroller via SPI

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM95071

Hello,

I want to use LM95071 with an PIC 18F4550 but I have I problem because I don't understand how connect them for SPI communication.

Indeed, the PIC microcontroller SPI uses the SCK, SDI, SDO and CS pins and the LM95071 has just SCK, SDI/O and CS pins. There is a example on datasheet show the connection between a 68HC11 and LM95071 but I want to be sure that I have to connect the PIC with the same schematic.

Anyone could help me to know how connect the different pins themself ?

Thank you for advance for your help.

  • Hello Jean-Marie,

It is common for SPI slave devices to only have one pin for data input and output, usually called SDIO (for serial data in/out) or SI/O (for serial in/out). The configuration in the LM95071 datasheet showing the 68HC11 connections should work without issue.

However, your question is specific to the microcontroller, not the temp sensor, so I'd recommend you contact Microchip for assistance specific to the PIC 18F4550 before proceeding.
