IWR1843BOOST: Simultaneous Transmit using Out-of-Box Demo

Part Number: IWR1843BOOST

Tool/software:

Hello! We are switching from the MRR demo base configuration to the OOB demo configuration because we need complete X-Y-Z data of our target. The targets have small radar cross sections, and the MRR demo can detect them at the farthest ranges because it, assumingly, utilizes all three Tx antenna simultaneously in the MRR chirps. Can you provide any guidance on how to utilize the simultaneous transmit of the three Tx antennas using the OOB demo to increase transmit power and continue to detect our targets at the ranges similar to the MRR?

Thank you and have a great weekend.

Craig.

  • Hello Craig.

In order to do this, you need to enable BPM mode.  However, this feature is not supported by default in the Out of Box demo for the 1843 device.  It is supported on the 6843 if you are ok with using a 60 GHz device.  If you need to stick with the 1843, there are examples for the 6843 and 1642 that enable BPM and how to make the appropriate changes to the 1843 demo to enable this.  However, please note that the 1642 demo only has support for 2 TXs.

If you are indeed switching to the OOB demo, can I go ahead and close this thread?

    Sincerely,

    Santosh
